However, according to insiders, the couple had already planned to leave the US behind before he won the election earlier this month.
A source reportedly told DailyMail.com: “Make no mistake about it. This is Ellen and Portia’s retirement.
“Neither one of them have any projects lined up.”
TMZ also said they had already purchased their place in the UK before the election took place. But they very much wanted to ‘get the hell out’ of America after Trump’s win.
With DeGeneres well-known for her talk show which came to an end in 2022, de Rossi is known for her work on the screen too as an actor. She played Lindsay Bluth Fünke in Arrested Development as well as appearing in the likes of Ally McBeal, Scandal and Better Off Ted.
The insider also reportedly said the star has been left with much less work following allegations of her fostering a toxic workplace on her long-running talk show.

“Ellen really felt she had made her mark on the industry, but that was diminished when she was cancelled over her alleged treatment of her staff,’ the source added. “Then to have celebrities call her out one by one was so hurtful,” they added.
DeGeneres said earlier this year she was quitting Hollywood and that we ‘won’t see her again’.
In a Q&A following one of her shows she was asked whether she would be returning to making films after her stand up tour.
She said: “Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
Her final special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, premiered on Netflix on 24 September.

Ellen Degeneres has confirmed she is quitting Hollywood, and says we ‘won’t see her again’.
The comedian and long-time talk show host has confirmed that she will be quitting Hollywood once she plays the final leg of her current comedy tour.
DeGeneres is in the midst of the Ellen’s Last Stand…. Up Tour, a stand up tour which will be filmed and released as a Netflix special.

She said: “Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
When asked if she would be returning to her role as Dory from Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Finding Dory she said: “No, I’m going bye-bye, remember.”
DeGeneres hosted The Ellen DeGeneres Show for almost 20 years, with it at one time being one of the most popular shows in the US.
The stand up comic has been using the tour to address misconduct allegations against her from the set of the show.
The talk show ended due to these allegations, which ranged from racism to sexual misconduct to intimidation.
DeGeneres ended up giving an on air apology, where she said: “I take this very seriously and I want to say I’m so sorry to the people it affected.

“I learned that things happened that should never have happened.
“If I’ve ever let someone down, if I’ve ever hurt their feelings, I am sorry for that.”
Following an internal investigation into the allegations, three executives at Warner Media ended up being fired for their part in the controversy.
At the show DeGeneres said: “Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me.
“I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
“I am a strong woman. I am many things, but I am not mean.”
In a previous show, DeGeneres said it was ‘hurtful’ how her show ended.
She said: “I just thought, ‘Well this is not the way I wanted to end my career, but this is the way it’s ending.’ … I just hated the way the show ended.
“I love that show so much and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.”
DeGeneres’s tour will continue until August 17, at which point we will – supposedly – never see her again.

It’s been five years now since Dakota Johnson and Ellen DeGeneres shared what must be one of the most awkward live TV moments in history.
DeGeneres, 66, was a titan of the TV industry at one point and many people tuned into her talk show as they enjoyed her interview style – as she was like a dog with a bone when it came to getting an answer out of her guests.
For the most part, it all seemed to be in good fun.
But behind-the-scenes, a string of her former employees later spoke out about the ‘toxic environment’ which she allegedly perpetuated on set.
After almost 20 years on screen, the controversy ultimately spelled the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show for good.
The Emmy Award winner then announced earlier this year that she was quitting Hollywood, warning that we ‘won’t see her again’ – which will likely come as great news to Dakota Johnson, as she can condense her party guest list guilt-free.
As I’m sure you all remember, the actress, 34, ended up locking horns with DeGeneres in front of the studio audience during an appearance on The Ellen Show back in November 2019 regarding an invitation to her 30th birthday bash.
Take a look at this to jog your memory:
The pair ended up butting heads when DeGeneres asked the Fifty Shades of Grey star about how she had marked her birthday with a big party in Malibu, which was attended by the likes of Miley Cyrus and Robert Downey Jr.
The talk show host teased Johnson and suggested that her invitation to the star-studded gathering might have been lost in the post, saying: “How was the party? I wasn’t invited.”
However, the Texas-born actress quickly corrected DeGeneres and explained that was ‘not the truth’ as she had purposely gone out of her way to request her attendance.
Johnson said: “Last time I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of s**t about not inviting you, but I didn’t even know you wanted to be invited…I didn’t even know you liked me!”

DeGeneres appeared quite taken aback that the tables had been turned on her, asking the Madame Web star whether she ‘was sure’ that the invitation had been sent.
“Ask everybody,” Johnson replied. “Ask Jonathon, your producer. But I did invite you, and you didn’t come.”
DeGeneres must have double-booked herself that night, as she then awkwardly said: “I was invited? Why didn’t I go? Oh yeah, I had that thing! It was probably in Malibu, that’s too far for me to go to.
“I think I do remember I was invited – thank you!”
The snippet of Johnson’s chat was immediately inaugurated into the Hall of Fame for one of the most awkward exchanges between two famous faces – so it’s no wonder Drew Barrymore brought it up at the first opportunity she had.

The Charlie’s Angels legend was asking her fellow actress about the relationship she shares with her neighbours during an appearance on her show in 2021, with Johnson then revealing that TV star Jimmy Kimmel was one of them.
She joked that although she really gets on with the people she lives adjacent to, they ‘have a lot of parties and they don’t invite her’ – sound familiar?
It was a perfect opening for Barrymore to revisit Johnson’s awkward chat with DeGeneres two years later, so she asked: “Is this for real? Because, you know, people have gotten in trouble for claiming [to not be] invited to your parties.”
The party starter simply responded by saying, ‘Oh my gosh’, before sharing a sneaky look with Barrymore.
“That was amazing, by the way,” Barrymore added. “Like, amazing.”
It’s all the drama, Mick! I just love it!

You don’t say Jason Derulo’s name – you sing it.
The ‘Whatcha Say’ hitmaker has been belting out his name at the start of his songs since he burst onto the music scene in 2009 with his self-titled debut album.
That’s right, we’ve had 14 years of him serenading us with his own moniker – and it’s been music to our ears.
Or you might think he sounds like a broken record. There is just no in-between.
And it’s pretty synonymous with the singer at this point – so much so that people are demanding it of him at this point:
The fact that Derulo, 34, also has a book titled Sing Your Name Out Loud: 15 Rules for Living Your Dream only supports this argument, but either way, he’s certainly an advocate for giving yourself a shoutout.
But the Florida-born star admitted that he had been seriously considering giving up his trademark introduction at one point.
He told Good Morning America back in June that it had become ‘too much’ for him, but a TikTok trend persuaded him to revive his name-dropping habit.

Derulo said: “As you can imagine, people were asking me to sing their name all the time, asking me to sing my name… it just became too much and I was like I’m not doing this no more.
“And then during the pandemic, there was like a whole TikTok trend that was going on which was like ‘bring the Jason Derulo back!’ So I was like, ‘ok, I’ll bring it back’.”
For once, we are thankful that the star gave into the pressures of social media – otherwise the opening seconds of his tracks would have got a lot less interesting.
But have you ever wondered why he decided to start singing his own name at the top of his lungs?

Well, Derulo dished the dirt on what drove him to include the shoutout to himself all those years ago during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show back in 2020.
Discussing the signature addition to his songs, the father-of-one said: “Well, it’s a bigger hit if I sing my name at the front, you know, obviously. So, yeah, I had to bring that back.
“And I was actually wondering why other people didn’t sing my name at the front of their songs as well, because it worked so well for me.
“They should sing Jason Derulo at the front of their songs.”
Has he never heard of Mr Worldwide, aka Pitbull? Or what about Sean Paul? Then again, turns out he was never saying ‘Sean de Paul’ in his hits.
But that’s another story.

The Simpsons might be loved for its long-running jokes and iconic characters, but it’s also pretty well-known for supposedly predicting the future.
Some fans even think it predicted the Hawk Tuah girl earlier this year, as well as the likes of the UK’s cost of living crisis and a major music collaboration.
And now people are convinced The Simpsons has predicted the outcome of the US presidential election with an over 20-year-old clip.
Yep, this Tuesday (5 November), the 60th quadrennial election takes place as the race tightens between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
But there’s already a winner if this cartoon is anything to go off.
Lisa or Kamala? (FOX/Disney)
Airing in 2000, the season 11 episode, titled ‘Bart to the Future’, has been heavily cited in the past, referencing Trump’s rise to power and eventual term as the 45th US president from 2017 to 2021.
However, the main focus in this case is something Lisa wears.
The episode sees Lisa donning a purple suit as she is elected as President in the future, following a disastrous term with Trump in the position.
As the president, Lisa states: “As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.”
And while this is happening, she wears a striking purple suit – very similar to that of Harris when Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President in January 2021.
Becoming vice president at the time, she was kitted out in purple almost exactly like Lisa.

Unable to ignore it, users wrote on social media: “We all know that The Simpsons has this uncanny ability to predict the future.
“In an episode, Lisa becomes president and she mainly wears purple suit and pearls, similar to Kamala Harris’s outfit in her vice president inauguration. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.”
And plenty agree: “The Simpsons predict Kamala Harris will be President.”
Another speculated: “Remember when Lisa was President of The United States on The Simpsons? Was that Kamala Harris?”
“Not for nothing but The Simpsons already predicted this….” one said.
And another confidently shared: “The Simpsons has done it again! Here’s from the 17th episode of the 11th season (in the year 2000) showing Lisa Simpson as the first female president of the United States talking about how the country is broke after President Trump. And, here’s Kamala wearing the same outfit at Biden’s inauguration.”
