For six months, Hailey Welch (AKA Hawk Tuah Girl) had a complete and total stranglehold on American pop culture. Welch, a 22-year-old from Tennessee, rose to fame in a YouTube video after stating that “You gotta give them that Hawk Tuah and spit on that thing” when asked for one move that makes a man go crazy in bed.

The video and Welch’s fame immediately exploded, landing her millions of followers on both Instagram and TikTok as well as a multi-million dollar deal to host the Talk Tuah podcast where she interviewed celebrities about various topics.

However, Welch’s newfound celebrity took a harsh turn in December when she associated herself with a cryptocurrency launch and then seemingly dumped her stake in the coin shortly after it launched. In reality, Welch didn’t do anything new. It was the same sort of crypto scam that A-listers such as Tom Brady and Shaquille O’Neal got caught up in with FTX. But Welch doesn’t have that level of cache.

“I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected, and the broader community,” she tweeted shortly after. “I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and resolve this matter. But Welch went radio silent from that point on. It has not been one month since her last episode of Talk Tuah, ironically titled “How To Avoid Being Canceled.” She last tweeted on Dec. 20. Her last Instagram post came on the same day, when she coincidentally appeared to be out of the country.
