And unfortunately for Taylor Swift, the effigy created in her image has been thrust back into the spotlight once again thanks to a blunder by Billboard.
While congratulating the megastar, 34, on where she ranked in their list of the ’25 Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century’, the music publication managed to put their foot right in it.
But first things first – the ‘Blank Space’ singer earned the number two spot, for the Swifties who haven’t seen the news yet.
To commemorate her incredible success in the entertainment industry, Billboard shared a video on Instagram which paid homage to Swift’s achievements alongside the announcement.
But it seems the chart company really ought to be triple checking what snippets they put in these kind of clips, as Swift’s bizarrely included a scene from West‘s ‘Famous’ music video.

Billboard bizarrely included a snippet of the wax figure of the pop star which Kanye West used in his ‘Famous’ video (Instagram)
For those who need a reminder, West was inspired by Vincent Desiderio’s 2008 Sleep painting when creating the visuals for the song that was part of his hit album, ‘The Life of Pablo’.
In the rapper’s version, naked sculptures of the likes of Swift, Kim Kardashian, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Ray J, Amber Rose, Caitlyn Jenner and Bill Cosby were seen laid in a shared bed.
For a lot of people, it was the stuff of nightmares, really – which is what Swift seemed to have thought too.
The fact his lyrics also referenced the possibility of having sex with the pop star and stated that he ‘made that b*tch famous’ obviously didn’t help matters either.
In fact, ‘Famous’ is responsible for sparking the ferocious feud between Swift, West and his former wife Kardashian, which ended up rumbling on for years.

At the time, her pal Lena Dunham took to Facebook to share a post slamming the rapper for the music video.
She branded it both ‘sickening’ and ‘disturbing’ – but it seems for some reason, Billboard thought Swift might like to see it in a short video honouring her.
The music firm have since apologised for the inclusion of the clip, although this might fall on deaf ears for Swifties.
In a post on X, Billboard wrote: “We are deeply sorry to Taylor Swift and all of our readers and viewers that in a video celebrating Swift’s achievements, we included a clip that falsely depicted her.
“We have removed the clip from our video and sincerely regret the harm we caused with this error.”

Taylor Swift changed the title of her supposed ‘Kim Kardashian diss track’ to ‘target a new star’ in special new live version.
The ‘Shake it Off’ star has been pretty booked and busy in recent months as she continues her lengthy Eras tour, with last night (15 August) marking the return of her Wembley shows.
And while she’s been performing to fans around the world, she’s been releasing special live versions of her music.
Only available for digital download on her site for 24 hours, her recent London release saw this cheeky little change.
When Swift released her latest new album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April, one of the long list of tracks was ‘thanK you aIMee’.
And it doesn’t exactly take a genius to spot she had capitalised K, I, M, quickly leading to the assumption she was taking aim at Kardashian.
The pair have had a bit of an on-and-off heated feud for a decade now, so it’s fair to think Swift was making reference to that.
However, when she treated fans to a special live recording of the song earlier this week, the title was modified.
Of course, the song name is still exactly the same when said out loud but there’s no denying this has to be an intentional switch-up. The track was instead listed as ‘thank You aimEe’, so the Y and E are capitalised.

That obviously spells out Ye, one of the nicknames of Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West.
Swift’s lyrics outline a school bully who ‘wrote headlines in the local paper’ and even threw ‘punches’ that left her blood ‘gushing.’
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman, but she used to say she wished that you were dead,” she sings in a pretty fiery verse.
The big original feud initially seemed to kick off when Kardashian jumped to her then-partner’s defence after he wrote now infamous, vulgar lyrics about Swift.
On his 2016 song ‘Famous’, Kanye rapped: “I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex. Why? I made that b**ch famous.”

Kardashian was widely been slammed going on to share a video of West’s phone call with Swift.
He seemed to ask permission to use the lyrics with the popstar appearing to say: “I know, it’s like a compliment, kind of. Yeah, I mean, what’s dope about the line is it’s very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice.”
However, she insisted it wasn’t the full call and an unedited version was leaked in 2020.
Then when she was crowned TIME magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023, she opened up about the impact it had on her, saying that the long-running feud took her ‘down psychologically’.
Swift’s special live version of the switched-up track was also a mash-up with another of her tracks, ‘Mean’.

Kanye West has hit back at claims he was booted out of the Super Bowl stadium by Taylor Swift.
No, the year is not 2009 or 2016, it is 2024 and a new feud story between the pair has been ignited.
Sunday’s (11 February) Super Bowl was, as always, a celebrity-packed event with a whole lot of attention on Swift thanks to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
And while she was joined in the Kelce box by the likes of Blake Lively, Ice Spice and Lana Del Rey, there are rumours another big name was meant to be sat very nearby.
There’s claims West bought himself seats right in front of Swift’s booth which obviously, would’ve been pretty awkward.
The ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper and ‘Midnights’ singer have long had tension, with West’s infamous speech-crashing at the 2009 VMAs when he thought Beyoncé should’ve won instead of Swift.
And in 2016, he released the track ‘Famous’ where he said: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b*tch famous.”

An interview with Swift in TIME last year, revealed she felt the public fallout was like a ‘career death’ and the whole thing took her ‘down psychologically’.
So, with existing feuds between the pair, former NFL player Brandon Marshall claimed on The Paper Route podcast that he’d heard West purposely bought seats right in front of her.
He claims the rapper was trying to upstage her as anytime they’d show Swift on the cameras, ‘Kanye’s face was going to be there’.
But Marshall alleges that when the ‘Love Story’ singer got wind of Ye’s plan, she shot it down.
“He’s got a mask on with his logo on the mask – typical Kanye. Taylor Swift gets p**sed off, she boom boom makes a call or two,” the former NFL player claims.

“Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out the stadium!”
It’s not clear where Marshall got this information from, and it’s also worth saying he started off his story by getting Swift mixed up with Katy Perry – leading you to wonder what else he might have got wrong.
West has denied these allegations, with one of his reps telling TMZ: “This is a completely fabricated rumour. It is not true.”
Whether he was in his intended seat or not, the rapper was in attendance at the Super Bowl in Vegas, wearing a black mask with a white crucifix on it.

Taylor Swift halted a performance of her hit single ‘Shake It Off’ during a performance in Edinburgh in order to send a message to security.
The megastar’s monumental Eras Tour is currently making its way through the UK, with Swifties lining up in their thousands to catch a glimpse of their idol in the flesh.
However,as with any major stadium show, it can be taxing for fans to spend hours stood on their feet in a tightly packed, and often boiling hot, space as they wait for their an act to take to the stage.
This is something that Swift, 34, is fully aware of, with the singer regularly making sure to keep an eye on her fans during performances.

She isn’t afraid of stepping in to help fans in need either, as one clip recorded at her Edinburgh show sees her stopping mid-song to get security’s attention.
In the video, posted to TikTok by @har1702, Swift is in the middle of belting out her track ‘Shake It Off’ when she abruptly stops and says something to the security team.
“We need some help over here, right in front of me about 35ft back,” she says as the instrumentals and backing singers continue.
“Thank you,” she adds, before seamlessly slotting back into her performance.
Swift can also be seen pointing into the crowd for several seconds prior to the comment, seemingly trying to get the attention of security staff.

The poster went on to reveal that this wasn’t the first incident of this happening during the show either, as she’d also had to ask for assistance multiple times during a performance of ‘All Too Well’.
“I don’t blame her, she had to ask about 10 times during All Too Well too,” they added.
Fans were quick to praise the singer for keeping an eye on fan welfare during her concerts.
“I love how she is always mothering,” one person wrote, while a second added: “The way they caught on and turned the music and everything down.”
“I’m so glad she always looks out for us,” a third commented.
Several fans also pointed out that she likely to be super vigilant with crowd safety after a fan died during a show in Brazil last year.
“I think she has stopped or talked to security loads because its clear [that] she can see more of the crowd (I also think she has a lot of anxiety from Brazil now),” another person wrote.

Taylor Swift has broken her silence on the alleged terror attack plot that caused three of her shows to be cancelled.
The ‘Lover’ singer was set to play at Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, Austria, earlier in August as part of the European leg of The Eras Tour, which concluded earlier this week.
However, police reportedly uncovered a plot by terrorists, with three people arrested in connection with allegedly planning attacks inspired by the Islamic State group.
Security was then ramped up at Wembley when the star returned to perform more London dates last week, with hundreds of guards surrounding the area.

And now that she’s finished this European leg, Swift shared a lengthy statement reflecting on the ‘devastating’ time to Instagram.
She explained how it brought the ‘most passionate crowds’ she’s ever played for as she expressed how ‘proud’ she is of her crew and fellow performers.
The ‘Love Story’ singer went on to say how walking onstage in London ‘was a rollercoaster of emotions’.
“Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating,” she wrote. “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.
“But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives. I was heartened by the love and unity I saw in the fans who banded together.”
Swift explained that she decided all of her energy ‘had to go toward helping to protect the nearly half a million people’ coming to watch her in London.

The star added: “My team and I worked hand in hand with stadium staff and British authorities every day in pursuit of that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they did for us.”
Addressing her silence on the matter until now, she said: “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows.
“In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that.”
Swift thanked her fans in Europe for the ‘adventure of a lifetime’ and said the energy at Wembley Stadium following the cancelled shows brought her ‘back to a place of carefree calm’.
